Freeprizedraws.ie is owned and managed by DataXcel Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect and share personal data when you register with Freeprizedraws, enter competitions, update your preferences, receive marketing communications, or interact with our website.

4. Free entry and optional marketing consent

Entering a Freeprizedraws competition is free.

You do not have to agree to receive marketing communications in order to enter a competition. You will have the same chance of winning whether you opt in to marketing or not.

Where we ask for marketing consent, the consent boxes are optional. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, updating your preferences in your account, or contacting us at datacompliance@dataxcel.ie.

We do not share your email or mobile number with a sponsor for that sponsor to contact you directly unless you have given consent for that specific type of contact.

To share sponsor offers

Where you have opted in, we may share your details with selected competition sponsors so they can contact you with relevant offers by the channels you have selected, such as telephone, email or post.

We may use the information you provide to make competitions, offers and content more relevant to you.

For example, if you provide an insurance renewal month and consent to sponsor contact, we may use that information to help send you a relevant insurance offer before your renewal date.

To conduct research and analytics

We may use aggregated or anonymised information to understand:

  • Which competitions are popular
  • How users interact with the website
  • Which types of offers may be relevant
  • General demographic and geographic trends

Where data is anonymised, it is no longer used to identify you.

To improve data accuracy

We may use data validation tools, including telephone number validation, NDD, and HLR lookup, to check whether contact details are valid, active and suitable for communication.

HLR lookup may confirm whether a mobile number is active, the network provider and basic number status. It does not provide call content, message content, call history or private communications.

Identity verification and fraud prevention

DataXcel also provides data services, including identity verification and fraud prevention services.

Identity Verification otherwise known as (KYC) know your customer. The data used could include Name, Address, Date of Birth, telephone number, email and is anonymised, so no third party receives access to your data at any point. We pass back to customers a Yes or No identifier match code and we do this because many of them must meet regulatory requirements and prevent fraud, avoid others miss using your data and to assist you with your online transactions enabling our customers to accept applications from new users quicker.


6. Our legal bases for processing

We process personal data under the following lawful bases:

We rely on consent for optional marketing communications, sponsor contact, certain survey participation and non-essential cookies.

We only share data where there is a lawful basis and appropriate safeguards.

Our key service providers may include hosting, secure transfer, email deployment and encrypted processing providers.


9. International transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. These may include EU Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, transfer risk assessments, or equivalent contractual and technical safeguards.

We do not knowingly transfer personal data to a country outside the EEA unless appropriate GDPR safeguards are in place.

11. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Typical retention periods are:

  • Account data: for as long as your account remains active
  • Competition entry records: for as long as needed to administer the competition and maintain audit records
  • Winner records: for as long as needed for prize administration, legal and audit purposes
  • Marketing consent records: for as long as your consent remains valid and for a reasonable audit period afterwards
  • Suppression and opt-out records: retained to ensure we respect your opt-out
  • Inactive marketing records: periodically reviewed and deleted where no longer required but at a minimum every 12 months.
  • Legal, accounting or regulatory records: retained for the period required by law

Where we no longer need your personal data, we delete it or anonymise it. Where you request your data is no longer to be processed we remove your data normally within 72 hours but at a maximum 28 days. 


12. Profiling

We sometimes use a geo profiling tool known as Mosaic which profiles your data at an aggregate level normally to neighbourhood level and provides us demographic descriptions of the neighbourhood enabling us and our marketing partners to send relevant competitions and offers that are likely to be of interest to you, subject to your contact preferences on your account with Freeprizedraws. To view the data we hold and to review your contact preferences at any time, go to your account profile when you are logged into Freeprizedraws(fpd.ie). HLR (Home Location Register) Data Processing

To ensure accuracy and relevance of marketing communications, we may use HLR data profiling.

  • What it means: HLR lookup allows us to verify if a mobile number is active, its network provider, and basic status.
  • Why we use it: To improve campaign accuracy, prevent fraud, and ensure your contact data is valid.
  • Data Impact: This process does not provide personal content (e.g., messages, call history) and is only used for verification and profiling.
  • Legal basis: Legitimate interest in ensuring data accuracy and fraud prevention, and in some cases consent (where profiling relates to marketing).
